Volvo Trucks tops premium heavy-duty commercial vehicle segmentPOSTED BY Jason Tan ON 10 April 2017
Volvo Malaysia announced that its truck brand has recorded a market share growth of 4.8% dalam 2016, thus capturing 45% of the market share in the European heavy-duty prime mover segment and becoming the top truck brand in Malaysia’s premium trucks industry.
Managing director of Volvo Malaysia Mats Nilsson says, “The overall heavy duty truck market in Malaysia had actually shrunk by 5% dalam 2016, mainly attributed to a slowdown of the economy and currency depreciation, which resulted in companies scaling back on their capital expenditures. Despite a challenging business environment, we managed to stay on course with our business strategy and effectively utilised our resources to achieve continued growth.”
In recent years, Volvo Malaysia has been involved in several new strategic initiatives in driving the business forward. These included network expansion programmes worth RM75mil, such as the relocation of some of its dealerships to new sites to give better dealer coverage and provide better quality service to customers.
Sebagai tambahan, the company also pursued more market opportunities by improving aftermarket support as well as increasing the number of training sessions for its customers’ truck drivers.
As part of its network strategy to raise the bar in customer satisfaction, Volvo Trucks opened its flagship dealership in Port Klanglast year and has since recorded more than 3,500 service intakes and provided better response time.
Volvo Trucks also continues to engage with its fellow truck drivers through its annual Fuelwatch Challenge, which encourages more economical driving techniques as well as fostering greater customer relationship and creating a safer road environment.
New premium flagship truck
It is also learnt that Volvo Trucks will introduce a new premium flagship truck that offers the latest technologies, safety features and excellent fuel economy on top of massive torque and haulage power.
Further information on this is still scarce but we reckon it would be the latest-generation of the Volvo FM series.
On this, Nilsson added, “The new truck that we are launching soon will push the boundaries of what a premium heavy-duty truck can offer in terms of fuel economy, kebolehpercayaan, ergonomik, superior handling, safety and uptime. It will be made available in Malaysia very soon.”
