Volvo Car Malaysia Rolls Out All-baru S90 dan V90POSTED BY Raja Danielle ON 30 Mac 2017
Following the success of its XC90 T8 Twin Engine, Volvo Car Malaysia SdnBhd is set to challenge in the most traditional premium car segment with the introduction of the new S90 and V90. Both models represent the second phase of Volvo’s transformation.
Built on the new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, the S90 and V90 showcase a distinctly Scandinavian concept of luxury, a preposition that is achieved through the use of natural materials, ergonomic and purposeful design, driven by cutting-edge technological innovations.
The new Volvo S90 and V90 are offered in two trims, the T5 and T6 R-Design. The S90 T5 and T6 R-Design will be priced at RM388,888 and RM453,888 respectively, while the V90 T5 and T6 R-Design will be priced at RM393,888 and RM458,888 respectively. All prices are on-the-road without insurance and are inclusive of GST.
Like the XC90, the S90 and V90 boast the proud and confident face of Volvo’s new design language, along with traditional Volvo design cues. Key design features include the hallmark “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlight design, a new grille with the iconic Volvo Iron Mark as well as the expressive use of the Volvo brand lettering at the rear.
The new S90 measures at 4,963mm long, 1,879mm wide and 1,443mm high. While the S90 and V90 share most of their componentry from the nose to the front doors, the V90 is 32mm higher at 1,475mm, but surprisingly, 27mm shorter. This difference is identified by the rear overhang on both cars.
In general, the new S90 and V90 appear to be visually lower, wider and longer, due to the clever use of lines and exterior elements such as the wide grille, headlights and shoulder lines, which stretch from the front hood all the way to the rear panels.
Customers of the S90 and V90 T5 can choose between Onyx Black, Ice White, Osmium Grey and Bright Silver for the paint. There is also the optional Mussel Blue which is unique to the T5. Completing the styling on the T5 is 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45 profile Pirelli P Zeros.
The overall wide and low stance of the new S90 and V90 is further emphasised on the R-Design variant. The signature Bursting Blue paint is the additional colour option available for the T6. The T6 R-Design variant wears a more aggressive front bumper and rides on sportier two-tone 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. The rubbers are Continental ContiSportContact with 255/40 profile.
Similar to other contemporary Volvos, the interior of the new S90 and V90 is designed on a more human-centric point-of-view principle. Standard features include keyless entry, automated parking, dual-zone automatic climate control with Clean Zone filtration and rear air vents, 12-way power-adjustable front seats with lumbar support and memory settings on the driver’s side, a 12.3-inch instrument display, Sensus Connect infotainment system with a nine-inch portrait-format touchscreen, 10-speaker sound system and a reverse camera.
The T6 R-Design gains illuminated door handles, power sunroof (panoramic for the V90), a head-up display, paddle-shifters, Navigation Pro, a 360-degree camera and Sport Chassis tuning. A powered tailgate is standard on the V90 while the powered boot lid for the S90 is only offered on the T6 R-Design variant.
For the interior, T5 customers can choose between three interior upholstery colours – Charcoal, Amber and Blonde – combined with two inlay options; Iron Ore or Dark Flame Birch. The T6 R-Design customers on the other hand will receive the sportier Nubuck and Perforated Nappa leather contour seats in Charcoal as the sole option with a selection of either the Metal Mesh or Carbon Fibre Deco inlay. Sebagai tambahan, there is the R-Design steering and gear lever among other things.
Powering the T5 S90 and V90 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine making 254hp at 5,500rpm and 350Nm of torque from 1,500rpm to 4,800rpm. This should send the T5 S90 and V90 from zero to 100kph in 6.8 seconds and 7.0 seconds respectively.
Sementara itu, under the hood of the T6 R-Design S90 and V90 is a 2.0-litre twin charged (turbocharged and supercharged) enjin, good for a healthy 320hp at 5,700rpm and 400Nm of torque from 2,200rpm to 5,400rpm. Compared to the front-wheel drive T5, the acceleration from zero to 100kph for the all-wheel drive T6 R-Design vehicles are 5.9 saat (S90) dan 6.1 saat (V90).
The Aisin-sourced 8-speed automatic gearbox is the sole transmission option for both T5 and T6 R-Design variants.
All models come with safety kits comprising of Volvo’s Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Queue Assist, and Lane Keeping Aid (LKA). This enables the new S90 and V90 to keep to its lane and at a preset distance from the car in front at speeds of up to 130kph.
Other standard equipment includes City Safety autonomous emergency braking, operating at speeds between 4kph and 70kph. It detects surrounding objects such as other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals, and will aid or intervene when necessary, particularly when the driver fails to react in time.
Other kits include driver alert control (DAC), run-off road mitigation and protection with road edge detection, rear collision warning, lane departure warning, cross traffic alert (CTA) and blind spot information system.
All these are in addition to the usual active and passive features including seven airbags, seat belts with pre-tensioners, ABS dengan EBD dan bantuan brek, stability control with active yaw control, understeer control logic and brake-operated dynamic torque vectoring, hill descent control, ready alert brake and fading brake support.
