Ton-up Hafizh stays in Moto2 top 10POSTED BY Nigel Andretti ON 26 September 2016
MALAYSIAN Moto2 grand prix motorcycling rider Hafizh Syahrin extended a career landmark at last night’s Aragon Grand Prix in Spain.
Fourteenth placing saw him move to 103 points, after hitting the century mark at the previous round in San Marino with a seventh placing.
This is the first time he has hit the century mark since he started competing fulltime in 2014 with the Petronas Raceline team.
With a total of 103 points, Hafizh is eighth in the championship with four rounds to go, including Malaysia as the MotoGP circus begins a sweep through Japan, Australia and Malaysia on back to back weekends.
In his first season, he collected 42 points for 19th in the championship and improved that to 64 points in 2015 to finish 16th.
Yesterday’s race was won by England’s Sam Lowes with Alex Marquez of Spain in second followed by Italian Franco Morbidelli. It was Marquez’ first podium in Moto2 after moving up from Moto3 this season.
Defending champion Johann Zarco of France leads the standings by just one point over Spain’s Alex Rins after the riders finished eighth and sixth respectively.
