Thai-made EVs for Bangkok taxi service by June next year

A Thai public-listed company plans to launch the nation’s first electric taxi in Bangkok by June next year.

“The MPV-based vehicle will be manufactured in Thailand. Some components will be imported from Taiwan and China,” said company official, Mr Thanapat Suk. Suthamwong of Energy Absolute Public Company Limited

Named the MINE SPA1, the EV will have a range of 200 km (NEDC) from a 95 Kw electric motor drawing on a 30 Kwh lithium ion battery that can recharge from 20 pct to 80 pct in 15 minutes using a CTS2 combo supercharger.

MINE is an acronym from the company’s theme “ Mission No Emission”.

“Price of the EV won’t be more than THB 1.2 million. The EV will by a taxi cooperative ,” he said at the MINE booth at the Bangkok International Motor Show which opens today at the Impact Muang Thong Thani exhibition centre and runs till 7 April
