Renault Koleos 2WD launched at TC Euro Cars’ new Glenmarie showroomPOSTED BY Mick Chan ON 11 March 2014
First released to the Malaysian market in 4WD form to the tune of RM223,810, the facelifted Renault Koleos is now here in 2WD form, priced slightly lower at RM185,888 on-the-road including insurance.
The 2WD Koleos retains the 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as in the 4WD version, and just like that car, output goes to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), but this time driving just the front axle.
Leading the visual changes on the Koleos is a larger, more prominent badge along with the redesigned front end, while the Koleos also receives a new wheel design and chrome side strips.
On the inside, the Renault R-Link multimedia system takes charge of infotainment duties which relays information via a seven-inch touch screen display, while steering wheel-mounted controls, voice command functionality and a console-mounted joystick enables drivers to operate the system with minimal distraction, Renault says. Additionally, the cabin receives new leather upholstery.
The 2WD Koleos also receives a Bose sound system, which includes a bass enclosure placed within the spare wheel beneath the boot floor.
On the active safety front, the 2WD Koleos employs ABS, EBD, EBD, ESC and understeer control, while new for this facelift is a blind spot warning system located at the corners of its front and rear bumpers. This alerts the driver of other vehicles in his or her blind spot with warning lights located at the base of the A-pillars.
For passive safety, the Koleos includes six airbags, load limiting seat belts for the front and outer rear seats, seat belt pretensioners for the front occupants, and Isofix child seat anchors for the outer rear seats.
As with the 4WD variant, the 2WD Koleos also features a split-opening tailgate, where the lower part doubles as a platform capable of supporting loads of up to 200kg. The rear seats feature 60:40 split-folding for added load-lugging convenience.
Playing host to the launch of the 2WD Koleos was TC Euro Cars’ just-opened Glenmarie showroom branch. Located in Temasya Glenmarie, Shah Alam, the showroom is the company’s fourth, with a recently opened Renault service centre located nearby, also in Glenmarie.
“With the opening of our new showroom facility in Glenmarie, we look forward to further grow our business in the region as well as to further enhance our customer’s experience with Renault,” said Kuan Kim Luen, director of TC Euro Cars.
Along with the just-launched Koleos, the Glenmarie outlet will be home to models like the Megane RS265 RB8, and soon the lineup will include the petrol-powered Fluence sedan and the Clio RS; the former is expected to be launched next month while the latter is expected to make an official appearance at the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix weekend.
