New Michelin tyres for transport and trucking sectorsPOSTED BY Oon Ee Seng ON 23 September 2014
MICHELIN has come out with two new high performance tyres for the transport and trucking sectors.
Its X Works Z is an all-terrain tyre designed for mixed usage on roads in and around construction sites and quarries while its X Line Energy Z is a highway truck tyre for use on highways and major roads.
The new Michelin X Works Z features a new tread design with wider grooves that gives a uniform footprint for a longer tyre life as well as better lateral grip and water evacuation for safer and improved performance on and off the road.
It has been designed to carry up to 7.1 tonnes per axle in single fitment and up to 13 tonnes per axle in dual fitment.
On the other hand, the Michelin X Line Energy Z addresses the challenges faced in long-haul transportation by providing a longer tyre life, a high degree of fuel efficiency and enhanced safety and reliability.
According to Michelin, with low rolling resistance technology, the X Line Energy Z tyre can help fleet operators to save up to 515 litres of fuel over 130,000km.
“The launch of the two tyres represents a holistic approach from Michelin to fulfil our customers’ requirements from Michelin tyres that result in increased productivity and ultimately provide sustainable competitive edge,” said Beltran Yturriaga, managing director of Michelin Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
