New Cayenne and 911 Targa 4S previewed at new Porsche CentrePOSTED BY Dinesh Appavu ON 29 May 2015
Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), the authorised importer of Porsche vehicles in Malaysia, has opened the doors to the all-new Porsche Centre Sungai Besi.
The new Cayenne and a variant of the 911, the Targa 4S, were previewed as well in conjunction with the centre’s opening.
As the name suggests, the RM16 million 3S centre is located along Jalan Sungai Besi with a built-up area of 34,703 sqft. The centre houses two vehicle delivery bays, a service workshop with a total of nine service bays and a spacious after sales reception area that includes two dialogue bays and a Porsche Driver’s Selection shop.
“We’re thrilled to be moving in-to the central automotive hub in Kuala Lumpur with the new flagship facility. With this new 3S centre, it is a big step forward for us to provide better service to our customers. Sungai Besi is also the first Porsche Centre in Malaysia that complies with the new Porsche corporate architecture,” said Arnt Bayer, chief executive officer of SDAP.
Marking a first for Porsche in Malaysia is the Carrera Lounge, an area that provides comfort and conveniences to new and existing customers during their visit to the centre.
A Porsche Approved Pre-Owned Car Centre is located on the first floor and offers pre-owned Porsches with a minimum two years warranty as well as hassle-free trade-in programs for Porsche owners looking to upgrade to something else from the Porsche stable.
Adding some spice to the launch was a preview of the new 991-generation 911 Targa 4S and the new range of Cayenne variants.
The 911 Targa executes the transformation from coupe to convertible in just 19 seconds. Being the all-wheel drive variant, it utilises the Carrera 4 and 4S‘s 44-mm wider shell. Motivation comes from a 3.8-litre flat-six producing 400hp and 440Nm of torque. Buyers will be able to choose between a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK or a seven-speed manual with the former dishing out the century sprint in 4.6 seconds while the latter makes do in 4.8 seconds.
Customers looking for something more practical will find solace in the Cayenne facelift that features subtle cosmetic and performance upgrades. The eagle-eyed will notice a sharper front facade with 918 Spyder-inspired headlights, reworked front and rear bumper as well as enhanced taillights.
The Cayenne range is topped by the Cayenne Turbo, followed by the Cayenne GTS, Cayenne S, base Cayenne and the oil-burning Cayenne Diesel S and Cayenne Diesel.
New to the Cayenne range is the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, a plug-in hybrid. It is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine mated to an electric motor for a total of 416hp and 590Nm of torque. A charging station is available as well and owners will have the option of installing it at their home or office to charge the SUV when it is parked.
SDAP is already accepting orders for the Targa 4S and new Cayenne variants with pricing to be announced soon.
