New appointment: Matsuoka as Isuzu Malaysia CEOPOSTED BY Vishal Bhaskaran ON 10 April 2015
Kenji Matsuoka has been appointed to be chief executive officer of Isuzu Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and will take office effective April 20.
Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Mie University, Matsuoka succeeds Kimitoshi Kurokawa who returns to Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan to oversee markets including the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia.
Prior to his latest appointment, Matsuoka was CEO of Isuzu-Hicom Malaysia (IHM) from 2012, after four years as CEO of Isuzu Vietnam Co Ltd.
Matsuoka hopes to achieve a 20 percent market share for Isuzu D-Max pickup trucks in the medium term, while further solidifying the company’s position at the top of the truck industry.
“Our customers have come to realize that our core product qualities of durability, reliability and fuel efficiency offered them reduced running costs without sacrificing performance or dependability. In times like these when everyone is trying to stretch their Ringgit, Isuzu vehicles offer customers with a genuine motoring solutions,” said Matsuoka.
The product range is set to expand this year with the introduction of a seven-seater SUV based on the D-Max dubbed the MU-X, its predecessor the MU-7 was not available here through official channels.
As 2015 is Isuzu’s tenth year here as an official distributor, Matsuoka stresses that the customer needs to be prioritised while charting a course for increased growth.
“Without strong back-end support for our customers, we would not be able to sustain a consistent growth for the brand. Therefore, much of our attention will be focused on improving the quality of our after-sales experiences by strengthening our dealer operations and improving spare parts availability through the establishment of a new parts depot in Johor,” added Matsuoka.
