Moto Guzzi Malaysia expands line up with CaliforniaPOSTED BY CBT Team ON 21 September 2014
In an effort to offer the local cruiser market with more choices, Moto Guzzi Malaysia launched the new California 1400 Touring and the California 1400 Custom last week at the brand’s 3S centre in Glenmarie.
Powered by a 1,380 cc “Quattrovalvole” V2 engine that is said to be the biggest V-twin engine in Europe, the California kicks out 96hp and 120 Nm of peak torque. Mated to the engine is a six-speed transmission.
According to Moto Guzzi Malaysia, both variants of the California feature adjustable traction control, a 52mm Magnetti Marelli throttle body, a ride-by-wire engine management system with three riding modes – Turismo (Touring), Veloce (Fast) and Pioggia (Rain), and a double ignition system with two oxygen sensors to improve fuel consumption. Also standard across the board are the engine guard, and the electronic anti-theft system.
While the California Custom is rather ‘naked’ with no windshield or panniers, the Touring version is equipped with a windshield, chromium supplementary lights, and a pair of 35-litre side panniers with guard kit.
Available in two colour choices (white “Eldorado” and black “Ambassador”), the California range is backed by a host of optional accessories such as leather side panniers, gel and leather two-seat saddle, top boxes, and a slip-on exhaust system among others.
The nett selling price for the California 1400 Custom and Touring variant stand at RM128,888 and RM138,888 respectively.
