Free RFID chip from new TnG Digital for paying highway tollsPOSTED BY Yamin Vong ON 18 August 2019
I installed a free Touch n Go RFID chip on our office car today and it was a painless, swift process – 10 minutes to fill in and sign the installation form and 5 minutes for the installation process itself.
Why did I go now rather than participate in the pilot programme less than a year ago? Because there is a new TnG Digital and an appealing change of attitude: Previously, under the old regime, it was like TnG doing motorists a big favour rather than the other way around.
The way it works now is that the fitment is provided free of charge anytime between 10am-10pm throughout the week without any appointment at 23 convenient centres in Klang Valley.
Drive your car there but prepare the original and photocopy of the required documents:
- registration card of the car that you want to install the sticker or the insurance certificate,
- Your IC,
- The vehicle owner’s authorization letter if it’s your company’s car
And to expedite the process, download the Touch n Go e-wallet app and link it to your preferred payment mode. Otherwise the installation guy will download it for you on your smartphone.
Congratulations to the new TnG Digital which is a joint venture between Ant Financial Group and Touch n Go Sdn Bhd (owned by CIMB). The new CEO is Ignatius Ong, an aviation industry veteran, whose claim to fame is as the profit making CEO of Firefly Airlines from 2011 to 2018.
Ignatius succeeds Syahrunizam Samsudin, who will return to his role as CEO of Touch ‘n Go.

What do you think of the new TnG Digital and the speedy, convenient installation of it’s free RFID chip?
