The 35th Thailand International Motor Expo launched today with five concept Cars and more than 20 new cars.

Together with the special promotions, car bookings at the Expo are expected to reach 45,000 units plus 8,000 units of motorcycles.

“We expect the 1.5 million visitors to spend over 55,000 million Baht over the 12 days of the expo,” said Kwanchai Paphatphong, Organizing Chairman of the 35th Thailand International Motor Expo 2018.

Held under the concept of “Enjoy Driving! Before Driverless Era”, exhibitors include 36 car makers from nine countries and 23 motorcycle makers from seven countries.

The concept cars at the Motor Expo are the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQA, Mazda Vision Coupe, MG E-Motion,  Mini John Cooper Works GP concept and the Porsche Taycan

There were also first-in-Asean launches of the Aston Martin Vantage, BMW 8-Series. Hyundai Kona EV and Hyundai Ioniq EV.

For motorcycles, there were the Royal Enfield Twins – the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.

Triumph displayed its 1200 Scrambler for the first time in the Asia Pacific market while it was an Asean launch for the Harley-Davidson FXDR 114.

At the vintage car section, there was a Lancia Aprillia — a Pre-World War II car made during 1937-1939. Probably the only one in Thailand, this was the last design of Vincenzo Lancia, the founder of the brand.

Outdoor activities include the Spirit of 4×4 Driving School which provides an obstacle course for visitors to experience 4×4 vehicles as passengers driven by experts.

There is a test drive ground behind the Impact Challenger Hall where visitors get to test drive cars of their choice.

An Autonomous Test Drive Area enables customers to try out cars equipped with Assist Systems such as automatic parking, autonomous braking under the guidance and supervision of professional driving instructors.

There is a special training course “Driving Well…Driving Safely with IMC” for participants to learn to anticipate and properly manage unexpected problems. The courses from 08:30 to 16:00 hours are limited to 18 persons per session and will be held daily throughout the duration of the show.

Extending the show beyond land, Inter Media Consult have organized Boat Fest 2018. Over 10 river watercraft (speedboats and scooters) are displayed on IMPACT Lake for enthusiasts to view, and there will also be an exclusive boat party for invited guests on December 7.

Later on in the show, on 2 December (Sunday), there will be a qualifying contest to select the best customized cars for IAM Bangkok 2019.

The Motor Expo is held at the IMPACT Challenger, Muang Thong Thani, from November 29 – December 10, 2018.
