2015 Honda CR-VPOSTED BY Yamin Vong ON 24 September 2014
HONDA has released an image of its updated 2015 Honda CR-V compact SUV but will not release any details about it until next week when it is goes on sale in the United States.
From the photo released, the 2015 CR-V for the US will get a new front fascia with a visual connection to the 2015 Fit (Jazz). Other detailing appears to have been carried over from the 2014 model.
The only powertrain option for this year’s US market 2014 CR-V is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder that produces 185 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.
That combination achieves EPA-rated fuel economy of, 26 mpg combined (23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway) with front-wheel drive, and 25 mpg combined (22 mpg city, 30 mpg highway) with all-wheel drive.
Honda has timed its refresh of the C-RV well in light of the news SUVs and crossovers overtook sedans as the top-selling vehicle segment in the US earlier this year.
This is largely due to the proliferation of more car-like crossovers, which are actually pushing aside traditional, body-on-frame SUVs, Green Car Reports said on its website today.
Many of these new crossovers come in smaller sizes, as previously “compact” vehicles continue to grow in size.
That’s why, in addition to the refreshed CR-V, Honda will also launch the smaller HR-V–a smaller crossover based on the Fit–in the US this winter.
The 2015 CR-V, meanwhile, will go on sale October 1.
