2015 Bentley Mulsanne Speed to make debut in OctoberPOSTED BY ON 17 September 2014
Bentley will be lifting the veil off the new, contemporary-styled Mulsanne Speed at the Paris Motor Show this coming October.
The new flagship is described as a statement in quintessential British luxury, coupled with on-board technology and connectivity discreetly integrated beneath the finest materials, created with unparalleled craftsmanship and exquisite handcrafted details.
Bentley Motors chairman and chief executive officer Wolfgang Durheimer said that the new Mulsanne Speed is “the car that defines Bentley, as a flagship for driving luxury performance”.
“The Mulsanne Speed is distinguished, calm and relaxing, but always with a connection to the road and relentless dynamic performance on demand. In this car, every journey becomes a drive,” he said.
Tailored for the driver, the Mulsanne Speed is powered by a 6¾ -litre twin turbo V8 engine which could propel its speed to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The car is registered for its top speed of 305km/h.
Torque output of the engine has been maximised 1,100 Nm from 1,750 rpm, thanks to a retuned gearbox designed to boost the driving experience of the Mulsanne Speed by delivering torque instantly on throttle application.
A new “S” mode has been incorporated to give the driver extended control, and maintains the engine speed above 2,000 rpm so the turbochargers are always set to deliver instantaneous performance.
The new powertrain records a reduced carbon emission of 342g/km. In Bentley’s signature style, the extra performance is attributed to a markedly improved efficiency; a 13 per cent gain means a fuel range extended by 80km.
“Our customers don’t compromise, and we’ve adopted the same approach in the design, engineering and crafting of our new flagship,” Durheimer said of the Mulsanne Speed which will be delivered to dealers by end-2014.
The Mulsanne Speed will be available in four colours: Spectre (black), Camel (brown), Candy Red and Marlin (blue).
