MAN Truck and Bus launches latest tipper truckPOSTED BY Adela Megan Willy ON 14 May 2015
COMMANDING its fair share of the spotlight at the ongoing Malaysia International Bus, Truck and Components Expo (MIBTC) is the newest MAN TGS 41.480 8×4 rear tipper truck, built specifically for the mining industry.
The heavy-duty truck, assembled locally in MAN’s plant in Rawang, is especially targeted to meet Malaysian mining businesses’ need for a robust and economical transport vehicle which is capable of navigating the rough off-road terrains in mines, at the same time, ensuring maximum payload.
Coincidentally, the model code – “41.480” – resembles the weight and horsepower, respectively, of the truck.
MAN’s latest payload truck comes equipped with an automated MAN TipMatic Offroad gearbox which offers an optional gearshift strategy for off-road operations and transmits power to the planetary tandem axles with their 22.5-inch twin tyres.
Delivering powerful momentum is a high-torque six-cylinder in-line Euro 3 engine.
MAN is not compromising on vehicle and occupant safety, that said, the TGS 41.480 is fitted with a BrakeMatic electronic brake management system (which regulates the pressure in the brake cylinder of every individual wheels) and the Exhaust Valve brake.
The electronic stability programme, on the other hand, is provided as an option.
“To be able to handle multi-shift operations with maximum daily outputs on unpaved roads and gravel tracks, the transport of seams and ore from open-cast mines calls for a vehicle that is outstandingly rugged, able to take heavy payloads and is equipped with a powerful engine,” MTBM managing director Hartmut Mueller said.
“The TGS 41.480 not only fulfills all these requirements, but it is also a reliable partner for businesses.”
Although it was not revealed during the official launch, Cars, Bikes & Trucks understands that the MAN TGS 41.480 is expected to be in the RM400,000 ballpark.
