Jokowi urges the Indonesian automotive industry to look forwardPOSTED BY Yamin Vong ON 02 August 2018
Jokowi opens the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show and warns against domination by car companies.
Regarding this, President Joko Widodo described four dynamics required for the growth of the automotive industry in Indonesia.
- Indonesian produced cars had to be successful in the domestic market. He warned against allowing the large automotive market in Indonesia to be swamped by imported cars. The Indonesia automotive market should be supplied by locally-made cars, he said.
- The government would give incentives for car producers that were export oriented.
- Producers should be forward thinking and focus on hybrids, plug-in hybrids and pure electric vehicles
- Rural mobility could overcome many problems. Additionally, better rural transport would increase agricultural productivity, he urged.
The GIIAS from 2-12 August is held at the Indonesia Convention and Exhibition Centre at the suburb of Tangerang and tickets are Rp50,000 on weekdays and Rp100,000 rupiahs on weekends
