First in F1 and in Malaysia, first in premium car sales: Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia yesterday reported a best first half sales performance since it started as a JV between Daimler AG and Cycle& Carriage 15 years ago

It delivered 6,790 Mercedes-Benz cars to its customers in the first six months this year, a 15 per cent jump over the same period last year.

“We maintain our leadership of the premium car market with a market share of 2.5 per cent and we carry this momentum into the second half of the year,” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President and CEO, Dr Claus Weidner.

Announcing the company’s H1 2018 results in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, he attributed the record performance to a focus on customer satisfaction.

That, and a deep product line-up which saw the launch a pair of locally-assembled high performance automobiles, the Mercedes-AMG C43   and Mercedes-AMG   GLC   43.

The E300 AMG was also launched today, replacing the E350e plug-in hybrid which is no longer competitive following the end of PHEV incentives.

To capture the new focus on the customer, the After-Sales Service terminology with its connotation of service being an appendage of sales, has been dumped in favour of “Customer Service” and Heinrich Schromm is now called the Vice President, Customer Services.

In the first half  of  2018,  the  dealer  network  registered  a  service  volume  of 71,650 in 31 service centers, an increase of 16 per cent over the previous year.
